Samenvatting

This paper presents a brief summary of the reasons why many urban public transport companies have adopted VSCS (Vehicle Supervisory Control System) as a means to control and improve the operation of their bus fleets. Also, the state of the present VSCS is briefly described, devoting most of the paper to present the new generation of VSCS that, as a result of the studies and evaluations that have been made in BARTOC (Bus Advanced Real Time Operation Control) Project, will be implemented by bus companies in the future.
