Samenvatting

The impact of electronic information systems upon transportation information systems, while not trivial, has been relatively modest, at least compared with the effects to come. Some of those effects will be: greatly increased use of EDI, Electronic Data Interchange, in lieu of paperwork (waybills, etc) in transportation systems; the increased use of electronic systems for purchasing and other logistic support functions; the introduction of vehicle navigation devices; and the increased use of electronic publishing and electronic formats for the distribution of technical information.
