Samenvatting

This paper provides a review of the London and South East Region Model (LASER version 3.0) after one year of its applications in the multimodal corridor studies. It analyses the technical performance of the model in land use and transport simulation. In particular, it is focused on the effectiveness of the new simulation equations that have been introduced since the previous version of the model. A number of new simulation equations were introduced as a result of improved access to detailed datasets of the Census, the LATS and NTS travel surveys and the Family Expenditure Survey. They include the spatial distribution functions for residents commuting to work, differentiated household demand for dwellings, and differentiated modal choice by demand segment and destination. The compatibility between location choice and modal choice, and the related issues of model convergence between land use and transport simulation runs, are investigated.
