Newcastle University is breaking new ground in integrating environmental and traffic data with its Mobile Environmental Sensing System Across rid Environments (MESSAGE). It has developed a small-scale wireless sensor module, or 'mote', for trialling in North-East England. This article provides details of the MESSAGE project and a follow up trial.
