Samenvatting
The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research TNO has developed a new gas generator for airbags. It is intended to yield lesser danger for the car occupants. This gas generator is based on substances that do not eject dangerous combustion products. An additional benefit is that in case of destruction of the airbag there is lesser environmental pollution. The TNO Institute has applied for a patent on this new gas generator. This article describes the working of the airbag, the working of the gas generator and what they can do to help preventing (head) injuries (see also C 6382 fo).
