The development of a reading lamp for use in a car at night without causing the driver to suffer glare is described. A semiconductor was the preferred light source because of durability, low temperature, low power consumption, and the lack of spread light. Asymetric reflectors were placed in the roof lining of the car which direct the light to where it is required. For the covering abstract see ITRD E123380.
