The paper describes results of a research project on non-responses effects in written household travel surveys. Based on two surveys with up to seven follow-up mailing actions, an estimate of the sizes of non-genuine non-response is made. In addition, the effects of genuine non-response on mobility characteristics (average trip frequency per person and per mobile person, proportion of mobile persons) were analysed at different response rates and with respect to sociodemographic characteristics of households and individuals and with respect to trip characteristics (mode and purpose). Using these results, procedures were developed to minimise non-response effects. (Author/publisher) for the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 286978.
