At present, Sweden lacks an established code for road lighting and to improve the state of things three institutions (Trafiksäkerhetsverket, Vägverket and Kommunförbundet) have worked out general rules. These are described., In some respects the proposals agree with those of the Danish Code, including basing the quality of lighting on criteria of road surface luminance for both wet and dry roads.
