Samenvatting

This paper deals with an integrated transport study carried out for part of the Ring Road in Nottingham, UK. It describes the steps taken to assess public transport options which includes conventional bus priority and guided bus. Interchange proposals were at the forefront of this integrated approach. Once the preferred option was selected, a series of assessments were carried out which were judged against local, regional and government objectives which included the main five overarching criteria of Accessibility, Safety, Environment, Economics and Integration. An initial environmental scoping audit assessment was carried out for the preferred option. This paper also provides an up to date summary of further work carried out which included an assessment of the merits of busways in comparison with guided bus.
