This article reviews the procedures involved is setting up and operating a new accident-investigation and data-collection project for obtaining injury-causation information for recent model cars involved in accidents. The program was conducted in an area for which good police-level accident data were conveniently available, permitting completeness and representativeness of the in-depth investigations to be determined.
