If one stops to consider road accidents it is of course apparent that the driver, the vehicle, the traffic, the road the light and the weather, are all possible factors in any one accident and in practice perhaps ought never to be considered except in their combination. The method of research into accidents generally, however, is to study one factor in isolation keeping, if possible, all the others constant.
