Samenvatting

The need for smart restraint systems is summarized and the overall objectives for these systems are outlined. Requirements on the occupant sensing portion of such a system are proposed, and the mapping of crash/occupant circumstances to tune/tailor deployment parameters is explored. The differences between sensing for restraint tailoring and for Rear Facing Infant Seat (RFIS) restraint tailoring are explored. Several approaches to occupant sensing are compared. (A)
