At the A4 near the Beneluxtunnel roadside surveys were carried out in both directions within a time period of two years. An investigation on the characteristics of traffic could be carried out with these surveys. The number of trips and the segmentation into vehicle categories was rather stable for both surveyperiods. The O-D pattern, the derived triplength distribution and the distribution of travel purposes allowed some differences for both periods
