Samenvatting
Research conducted in order to evaluate the practical use of the opening of the Hofzichttunnel in 1971 for the individual road traffic and public transport between the centre of The Hague and the suburbs Leidschendam and Voorburg is described. The population explosion and the percentage of commuters in Leidschendam, their mode of transport, the labour situation and the number of occupants of each car is discussed. The way the traffic counts were conducted and evaluated is described and the results are given. Final conclusions with respect to road traffic and public transport are drawn.
