AS Oslo Sporveier (OS) is responsible for public transport in Oslo, Norway. It is split into four companies, three that operate the metro, trams and buses and one organizing company. Stor-Oslo Lokaltrafikk (SL) is responsible for the coordination of all scheduled transport by bus and ferries within the county of Akershus. Norwegian State Railways (NSB) run the railways in the region. Under Oslopakke 1, revenue from the Oslo Toll Ring has been allocated to improve public transport. The reasons why major improvements are needed are outlined. Oslopakke 2 is a financial plan for new and upgraded infrastructure and rolling stock for public transport in Oslo and Akershus. Investment will be made on the west corridor railway project, the construction of a new Metro Circle Line. A ticket surcharge on public transport will be used to purchase new rolling stock. The Norwegian government has launched an initiative for increasing travel speed by bus and trams. Electronic ticketing will be introduced. The evaluation of road investments is outlined. HyNor, the hydrogen road of Norway, is a demonstration project for hydrogen use in transport.
