There are legal requirements concerning a driver's knowledge of the formal traffic regulations. Normally that knowledge is tested by theoretical examinations that (a) rely too much on intelligence, and (b) do not seem to be related to real traffic situations. To meet these objections two versions of an examination are constructed that satisfy as far as possible the psychological test conditions. Both examinations consist of 60 questions related to traffic situations presented with the use of slides. Subjects can answer the questions by saying yes (the behaviour is allowed) or no (the behaviour is not allowed). (Author/publisher)
