Samenvatting

The value-of-time is an expression of the amount of money that individuals are willing to pay to save travel time. In 1988 a value-of-time study was held in order to measure the value-of-time of travellers with various characteristics. A new value-of-time study is currently undertaken by Hague Consulting Group to find out whether these values-of-time have changed since then as a result of changes in travellers' preferences or changes in the distribution of the population across segments. This paper discusses changes in travellers' preferences. Comparing the results of this study with the 1988 value-of-time study, it can be concluded that travellers' preferences have not changed considerably. The most important changes concern the value-of-time of part-time workers and the effect of driving speed on highways. With respect to the sample average value-of-time only small changes can be observed. (A) See also IRRD 825731 and 839272.
