Samenvatting
This paper presents a number of results which make it possible to design optimal settings for fixed cycle traffic signals with regard to optimal control of whole traffic areas. The aim was to generate a set of computer programs which enable designers to evaluate quickly many alternatives. This led to helpful empirical formulae for different aspects of system performance.
