Samenvatting

Many agencies are using new technologies to improve their control management of snow and ice on roadways; however, the measures used to determine performance related to snow and ice control are not an exact science. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)has developed a seven-module computer-based training program to help train winter maintenance crews, minimize the amount of time spent fighting a storm, and reduce the amount of chemicals applied to the roadway. The goalsare to meet customer demands, minimize costs, and reduce environmental impacts. For the covering abstract see ITRD E143097.
