Optimizing User Satisfaction While Minimizing Environmental Impacts with Effective Snow and Ice Control Management.

Many agencies are using new technologies to improve their control management of snow and ice on roadways; however, the measures used to determine performance related to snow and ice control are not an exact science. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)has developed a seven-module computer-based training program to help train winter maintenance crews, minimize the amount of time spent fighting a storm, and reduce the amount of chemicals applied to the roadway.
