Samenvatting

The optimum distribution of origins and destinations which minimizes the sum of the costs of travel between origins and destinations and the cost of location of those origins and destinations is derived for a linear city. It is assumed that the cost of travel is directly proportional to, or proportional to the square of the distance between origin and destination. It is also assumed that the rent per unit area is proportional to a power of the total number of origins and destinations per unit area.
