Samenvatting
A state of the art report on optical guidance in darkness on roads without public lighting. Firstly the need of information for the road user is shortly discussed. Then the following subjects are dealt with: pavement, road markings, raised pavement markers and delineators with respect to technical design, practical realization on the road, and function and effects on the traffic behaviour.
