Samenvatting

The type of and requirements for a basic organisation to conduct longer term transportation planning on a continuous basis in a urban region is discussed. The regional planning type organisation is indicated as the most effective when compared with the other possible forms, primarily because a more comprehensive, co-ordinated, and continuous overall approach can be implemented at the conceptual and outline levels of planning by incorporation of an independent transportation planning section.
