Samenvatting

The Greenwood traffic speed deflectometer (TSD) is a rolling wheel deflectometer (RWD) that applies the load of a real truck in traffic where traditional stationary deflectometers use a falling weight. This makes the pavement response under the TSD authentic compared to the response from the falling weight. The paper describes the TSD concept which uses laser Doppler technique. Examples of interpretation of data measured with TSD are given. As the TSD provides continuous measurements at traffic speed, then strategy for collecting pavement bearing capacity information can be developed and it becomes possible to identify local inhomogeneities. Pavement bearing capacity examples are given with indicators: structural curvature index and centre deflection.
