Samenvatting
This chapter reviews the Japanese involvement in RTI (Road Transport Informatics). Sections are provided on: a) roadside driver information and traffic measurement systems; and b) in-vehicle information systems. Special attention is given to the design of the human-machine interface. Brief details of the current research programme are presented. This includes work on road-vehicle communications and a super smart vehicle system. Future research and development in RTI is also discussed.
