Samenvatting

This section (Appendix I) forms part of a suite of documents compiled as a result of a comprehensive review by TfL of the trial that investigated the road safety benefits of permitting Powered Two Wheelers (P2Ws) in bus lanes on a trial basis along three routes in London. Apart from road safety, the review looked at changes in usage, speeds, bus journey times and road user attitudes. After the completion of the casualty data collection exercise, the results were presented to stakeholders at a seminar in September 2006 and in response to feedback received, this section of the full report is included in the overall presentation. For ease of cross reference the report replicates the format of the data submitted in the Extended Trial Report (see Appendix II), and contains an analysis of the same before casualty data found in Appendix II. The control data used in this section reverts back to the original control routes selected for the trial, the A5 and A10 corridors. Full details of all trial corridors and the method of data collection, as well as an explanation of the alternative control area which uses the Tanner Test can be found in Appendix II. After further examination of the casualty data following the feedback from the seminar, the A13 trial route has been removed after it had been determined that the long term road works on the trial route had an abnormal effect on the casualty history which could adversely affect the data (see Main Report section 4.2.1.3). Consequently, this Appendix sets out the source data for the two original control routes (A5 and A10), and the trial routes of A41 and A23. Analysis of this data is included in the Main Report.
