During laparatomy of the upper abdomen when rupture of the spleen is suspected, it would seem advisable to revise the entire pancreatic region in order to aid diagnosis, to help estimate the chances of recovery, and to be sure of the right moment for beginning with inhibitory therapy, more especially as the pancreatic signs and symptoms can be very ambiguous.
