Samenvatting

Attention should be given to parking as to the moving automobile. Planning of parking garages should be based on requirements for the quality of the environment, but it should also be kept in mind that extra value can be added to the walking distance the car driver has to cover after parking his vehicle. A city centre can entice drivers to accept longer walking distances, if more attention is being paid to dressing up pedestrian routes between parking accommodation and the city centre. The question whether there should be parking garages or not is not relevant any longer: it is merely a matter of where they should be located.
