Samenvatting
This short article describes the parking navigation system for the area around Yokohama Station. The total parking capacity of the area is about 4,400 vehicles. There are 4 parking zones. Zone information boards display the parking conditions for each zone (full; crowded; or vacant). These information boards are located at strategic places on the road network, some of them as overhead gantry signs. A map is provided of the area and illustrations given of the boards. The results of a survey into the effects of the signs upon parking lot use and traffic flows is presented. The results indicate a decrease of on-street parking, and an increase in the use of the car parks.
