Samenvatting

In rollover crashes, vehicle damage often includes deformation of the roof and its supporting structures. Head and neck injuries are common, and associated with roof deformation. An investigation has been carried out to predict the effectiveness of applying FMVSS 216 in Australia to reduce rollover associated trauma. The main conclusion is that the FMVSS 216 is an inadequate standard, and that there would be little or no incremental benefit in introducing an Australian Design Rule based on it. (A)
