Samenvatting

This paper deals with the relationship between road transport and air quality problems. As to the air pollutions, which are caused by sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, suspended particulate matters, etc., the author states their current status as well as their past track. Some of the air pollutants emitted have become much less than ever, and the air pollution problems concerned with those pollutants are resolved; and however the other air pollution problems, which are caused by the air pollutants being emitted still much, remain. Further the author predicts that emissions of nitrogen oxides and particulate matters will decrease very much due to scheduled strengthening of automobile emission regulations, and that the remaining problems will be greatly improved in future.
