Samenvatting

The Injury Severity Score (ISS) has become the most widely used summary measure of overall severity of injury throughout the world. ISS has been shown to correlate well with mortality, length of hospital stay, charges incurred in the hospital and can also be a reasonable valid predictor of the surviving patient's prognosis. The present study was undertaken to determine whether ISS can be utilized to identify patients who are more likely to benefit from intensive care.
