Samenvatting

Many fatalities resulted from injuries of low or moderate severity. Implications for improving the chances of survival of these individuals are discussed, particularly with regard to the use of safety belts. It is concluded that more consistent use of safety belts by vehicle occupants would significantly reduce the number of fatalities resulting from vehicle crashes and might also promote better risk perception by drivers.
