The statistics presented in this paper are based mainly on the most recent police stats 19 data, but other sources are also drawn upon, including the interim findings of the TRRL hospital study at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. The followingdata are listed, casualty trends;cycling accidents in relation to age, sex, junction details, time of day, and month of year. Bicycle defects in relation to accidents were also discussed. Other road users involved in accidents with pedal cyclists were recorded, as were the intended manoeuvres of the vehicles and bicycles involved in such accidents. Theseverity and location of injuries were also given.
