Samenvatting

On 16 September 1992, ACEA presented its study on the development of pedestrian accidents in Europe to representatives from EC Member States and the Commission. The present paper is an extension of the study mentioned above, giving updated figures (now including 1991 statistical data) on the cost benefit ratio with regard to pedestrian killed, which could reasonably be expected if the existing Directive on "exterior fittings" were to be amended. Futhermore, ACEA presents the conclusions of its findings with regard to pedestrians injured in passenger car accidents.
