Samenvatting

The multiple studies of pedestrian barriers conducted during the course of this investigation show that: (1) barriers perform their function of channelling and guiding pedestrians if built with care and arranged well on the street; (2) when integrated into the total design of a street, at crosswalks, tunnels, intersections, etc., barriers can make a substantial contribution to accident reduction- as much as 30%.
