This study focused on midtown Manhattan, first relates pedestrian density as determined from aerial photography, to walkway space and building floor space at 2 points in time. Available walkway space, as well as building floor space in retail restaurant, and office use, is found to significantly affect the presence of pedestrians. Estimating equations are presented and evaluated.
