Samenvatting
A more user-oriented approach to pedestrianization of the central city is proposed. Performance goals such as psychological time, comfort, safety, orientation and information are discussed. Macro-scale urban design concepts are evolved in the context of U.S. central city case studies. Significant micro-scale physical indicators for pedestrian comfort, safety and amenity are evaluated.
