This publication consists of 19 papers that explore pedestrian behavior; pedestrian travel to, from and within shopping districts; sampling for pedestrian and bicycle surveys; modeling pedestrian crashes near the boundaries of traffic analysis zones; shortest-path lengths for effective pedestrian routing in street networks; and accessibility and connectivity in a pedestrian network. This issue of the TRR also examines pedestrian traffic signal perception by pedestrians with varying levels of vision; pedestrian volume at intersections; pedestrian safety at intersections; infrastructure-based countermeasures for pedestrian safety; automated pedestrian data collection; midblock crossings; pedestrian travel analysis with static Bluetooth sensors; bicycle and pedestrian studies using data from the National Household Travel Survey; dedicated short-range communication system for pedestrians; and processes for developing standard pedestrian-equivalent factors.
