Samenvatting

In November 2006 the Pedestrians’ Quality Needs project officially started. The aim of the PQN project is to identify what people need for their safe and agreeable mobility in public space, to relate those needs to structural and functional interventions and policy making, and to show the added value of a proactive systems approach compared to sectoral approaches. As result, the PQN aims to publish (among other things) a consistent qualitative and quantitative methodology for recording pedestrian activity; an easy to use auditing tool for measuring the quality in relation to pedestrians’ needs and a guidance on national and local procedures for monitoring the effectiveness of pedestrian investment. At the workshop progress with regard to modelling and research will be summarised.
