There is some disagreement about the degree of risk homeostasis. It is argued that it can be so strong that changes in behaviour totally negate any attempt to make the environment safer. There is no good evidence for this. On the other hand there can be no doubt that some degree of homeostatic compensation occurs. The implications of this for safety measures are fairly obvious.Hazards should be made very obvious and strategies for avoiding them well practised.
