Samenvatting

A conceptual analysis of pedestrian behaviour to provide a framework for existing research findings is set out and te directions for future research are indicated. The relevance of perception and decision making to other processes in the pedestrian task is indicated. Six stages in road crossing behaviour are postulated: location, section, observation, perception, judgement and finally crossing.
