Samenvatting

This paper reports a number of experiments on subjective scales for some important physical variables in (movements of) configurations of tail lights in darkness. The rationale is that knowledge of subjective scale is relevant to the study of the man-machine interaction in car driving. As a check on the results some experiments were replicated with the standard stimulus assigned the magnitude "10" instead of "100". The results are somewhat unclear in relation to the main experiments, indicating sensitivity of the results to the particular method employed. Some suggestions for further research are given.
