Samenvatting

A literature review of driving behaviour in road curves revealed that a good theory does not exist for the way drivers perceive curve characteristics while approaching a curve and the way they adjust their speed on the basis of these perceived characteristics in the approach zone. A theoretical analysis of possible cues for the perception of curve characteristics shows that curve radius and curve angle are two important parameters with distinct effects on the dynamic perspective of the curve during approach.
