Samenvatting

This paper describes the throughput performance of a dedicated short range communications (DSRC) system with a handover scheme. The handover scheme, based on the current DSRC standard (ARIB STD-T75 ) in Japan, maintains the continuity of data transmissions over multiple radio zones by transferring received and remaining data between base stations located along the roadside. In this paper, we propose a link connection/disconnection method that decreases the repetitions of link connecting and disconnecting operations caused by fluctuations of received signal level around the cell edge. The throughput performance based on the TCP/IP protocol is evaluated by simulation software that consists of L1 containing the proposed technique, L2, L7, DSRC-IF, SM (System Management), IP, TCP and FTP applications. In the computer simulation, measured propagation data is used to confirm the feasibility of the proposed handover scheme.
