The lighting recommendations established in 1958 have not been changed since then. What has changed is the development of our knowledge about lighting: there are now new decision-making tools, and a new context in which the lighting profession must operate. Over-simplified "recipe" approaches to lighting design are outdated. The user should insist that lighting be designed by those who understand vision and performance capability.
