Samenvatting

The development of new information and display technologies again raises the question of central (behind the steering wheel) versus peripheral (between the driver and the co- driver) mounting of displays in cars. Starting from the "functional visual field" of the driver several experiments were conducted in a driving simulator. Both reaction times and eye movements were recorded for different positions, layouts, sizes and contents of visual information.
