Alcoholics or problem drinkers generally have accident rates about twice as high as non alcoholic drivers; an investigation into the personality differences of alcoholics with high and low accident rates were alcohol related, is described. From the 100 diagnosed alcoholics those with high accidents rates displayed greater tendencies towards impulsivity, recklessness and irresponsibility.
