Samenvatting

This deliverable presents the preliminary pilot plans of AGILE. AGILE aims to develop a new, flexible and modular system for assessing the ability to drive of the elderly. In doing so, it develops a pre-screening tool, an in-depth assessment procedure (comprised of a neuropsychological test battery, driving simulator scenarios and an on-road test), as well as detailed on-road test, to be used as reference for the rest tools. Other significant project by-products are the assessment criteria of elderly driving ability (WP2) and a re-training scheme for elderly drivers (WP8). All these tools and methods are evaluated in a series of six laboratory and three field tests. Chapter 1 offers a brief introduction to the subject of elderly drivers assessment, as well as to the aims, goals and steps of AGILE Pilots. Chapter 2 describes briefly the main AGILE tools that will be assessed within its pilots, namely the pre-screening tool, the in-depth tools (test battery, driving simulators, on-road test) and the reference on-road test. It should be underlined that the final AGILE pilots in 3 countries (A6.3 pilots in Belgium, Greece and Sweden) are evaluating the overall AGILE assessment procedure and not each tool independently. Single tools are pre-tested within the laboratory pilots of A6.2. Chapter 3 presents the individual test plans of each partner, whereas Chapter 4 includes the tools to be used in each pilot for data capturing and analysis, which are all listed within this Deliverable and encompass: § assessment time; § number of user mistakes that the system recognises (in comparison to an expert evaluator); § number of incidents of traffic rules violation and/or accidents performed by positively assessed elderly during the next 6 months (for the project) and 3 years (in total); § ?number of evaluator and user errors in understanding and following the assessment procedure; § comparison of assessment results with real case evidence for drivers assessed before and with good or bad driving records since; § user questionnaires analysis of elderly participating in the Pilots, rating in a 0-10 scale their level of trust in the assessment procedure, soundness of decision justification, relation to findings to the real problems encountered, etc.; § evaluators forms analysis, rating the comfort, efficiency, satisfaction, help required, control and easiness of the assessment tools and procedures (in a 0- 10 scale). The relevant tools are included in Annexes 1-8, at the end of this Deliverable. The Deliverable ends with brief conclusions in Chapter 5. The most important conclusion is that this document constitutes only the first version of the Pilot plans, which are constantly and dynamically evolving, in parallel with project progress and intermediate results. Thus, D6.1 is considered as a living document during the project life and will be revised whenever needed. (Author/publisher)
