Samenvatting

In this study a simulation model is used to investigate sustained pitching and bouncing oscillations occurring during antilock braking of a heavy truck. Calculated time histories of deceleration, pitch, bounce, and axle loads are presented to describe the form of the observed oscillation. Energy concepts are used to analyze a typical cycle of the sustained oscillations. The conditions under which the amplitudes of the oscillations will grow or diminish are discussed.
