Samenvatting

Developed for consumer IT-use (beamer - presentations) micro mirror projection systems are on the market. Their projected light is digitally controlled-switched via micro mirrors (DMD - Digital Micro Mirror Device). Specially designed chips contain up to 500,000 micro mirrors. By intermitted switching of these mirrors the intensity of the projected light varies. Adapting these devices for automotive application, a programmable headlamp (Pixel Light) could be available in the future. Every position in a defined visual field of the driver can be "illuminated". In addition with other car data ("ConnectedDrive"), these intelligent headlamps are able to fulfil new functions especially in combination with sensitive camera systems: (1) Today's mechanical functions like headlamp levelling, left hand, right hand drive beam adaptation, swiveling beams; (2) Selective illumination of objects (obstacles, traffic signs), intensify contrast of road markings; and (3) Projection of information e.g. to the road surface.
